Setting up an LG Display
This guide walks you through preparing an LG digital signage display for use with an external player connected over HDMI. The goal of a professional deployment is a panel that makes no decisions of its own: it stays on the input you give it, never shuts itself down on a timer, and stays reachable over the network so it can be switched back on if it ever ends up off. Follow along with the video above, or use the written steps below.
Menu names vary by model
LG's menus differ slightly between models and firmware versions, so a setting may sit under a slightly different name on your panel. Look for the closest match if a menu doesn't appear exactly as written here.
1. First boot and the setup wizard
- When the display boots for the first time, the LG setup wizard appears. Select Quick Start and press Start.
- Set the current time and date, then press Save and Done.
- Wait a few seconds for the wizard to finish, then press the Menu button on the remote.
2. Power settings
On the remote's menu, go to General → Power. This is where most of the important settings live.

| DPM | Off | Disables display power management (automatic sleep). |
| Wake Up Control | Clock + Data | Lets the panel wake on data arriving over the network — that's how the player switches it back on. |
| PM Mode | Network Ready | Important. Lets the player wake the display over the network even when the display is powered off. |
| Power On Status | Power On | After a power outage, the display comes back on by itself once power is restored. |
| Wake On LAN | On (optional) | Optional — handy if your own IT tools wake devices over the network. Bohemica Signage doesn't depend on it. |
3. Network — note the IP address
Back out to General → Network. Depending on whether the display is connected by Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi, take a moment to write down its IP address — you'll use this address to control the display over your local network and to add it in the dashboard.
Corporate networks
If you're deploying into a corporate network, consult your system administrator about IP addressing and make sure your setup complies with company security policy. The display doesn't need internet access to be managed, but it does need to communicate over the local LAN.
4. SimpLink (HDMI-CEC) — not needed
Bohemica Signage doesn't use HDMI-CEC, so SimpLink (LG's name for it, under Advanced Settings → SimpLink Setup) can stay Off. CEC lets any other device on the HDMI cable power the panel on and off — one more thing making decisions for you — so on a signage panel, off is the safer setting.
5. Picture and energy settings
- Back out to the main menu and go to Display → Advanced Setting. Disable Average Picture Level (APL) auto control. This keeps all your LG panels rendering the same content at the same brightness and contrast — especially important for video walls, where small differences between panels are immediately visible.
- Go to Energy Saving and make sure all options are set to Off.
6. Lock the menu (recommended)
Open the Admin menu and lock it down by setting a password — use the number buttons on the remote to enter a six-digit code. This prevents anyone from wandering into the menu and changing settings they shouldn't.
7. Back up your configuration (optional)
To save your configuration so you can reuse it on other panels:
- Go to the main menu and choose Easy Setting → Setting Data Cloning.
- Insert a freshly formatted USB thumb drive into the display's USB port.
- Choose Export Setting Data.
💡 LG backups are easy to inspect
Unlike Samsung, the LG backup file is unencrypted, so you can copy it to a PC and inspect your configuration directly if you ever need to.

Your LG signage display now stays on the input you gave it, leaves power decisions to your schedule, and stays reachable over the network so it can be switched back on if it's ever left off. Next, add it to a Display in the dashboard and set up your preferred player device.
