Setting up a Samsung Display
This guide walks you through preparing a Samsung digital signage display for use with an external player connected over HDMI 1. As with any professional deployment, the goal is a panel that makes no power decisions of its own: it stays on HDMI 1, never shuts itself down on a timer, and stays reachable over the local network. Follow along with the video above, or use the written steps below.
Menu names vary by model
Samsung's menus differ slightly between models and firmware versions, so a setting may sit under a slightly different name on your panel. Look for the closest match if a menu doesn't appear exactly as written here.
1. Factory reset (clean slate)
To make sure you're starting from a clean slate, perform a factory reset. On the remote, press these buttons in sequence:
Power off → Mute → 1 → 8 → 2 → Power on
The service menu appears. Select the first option, then choose Factory Reset. Wait a few seconds, then press Power on. The display reboots into the initial setup wizard.
2. Initial setup wizard
Work through the wizard with these choices:

| Clock set | Set the current time and date |
💡 The signage rule of thumb
Never let the display do anything time-based on its own — opening and closing times belong in the location's business hours, which your player follows. Anything that powers the panel up or down automatically gets turned off.
When the wizard completes, the home menu appears. Press Back to close it, then press Menu on the remote.
3. System and power settings
- Go to System → Auto Source Switching and set it to Off, so the display doesn't jump between inputs on its own.
- Go into Power Control:

- Back out and open Eco Solution. Set Energy Saving Mode to Off and No Signal Power Off to Off as well — again, the display shouldn't make any power decisions on its own.
4. Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) — not needed
Bohemica Signage doesn't use HDMI-CEC, so Anynet+ (Samsung's name for it, in the General menu) can stay Off. CEC lets any other device on the HDMI cable power the panel on and off — one more thing making decisions for you — so on a signage panel, off is the safer setting.
5. Device ID and network
- Press Home, go to Device ID settings, and set the Device ID to your preference. Set PC Connection to RJ45 LAN / Wi-Fi and press Done.
- Check the network status / IP settings and write down the IP address — this is the address you'll use to add the display in the dashboard.
Corporate networks
If you're deploying into a corporate network, consult your system administrator about IP addressing and make sure your setup complies with company security policy. The display doesn't need internet access to be managed, but it does need to communicate over the local LAN.
Don't set the panel's own on/off timers
The location's business hours already handle this — a panel that switched itself off shows nothing even while the player is running.
6. Back up your configuration (recommended)
Save your configuration so you can restore it in seconds on the same or a similar model:
- Format a USB flash drive to FAT32.
- Plug it into the display's USB port.
- From the home menu, select Clone Product.
You're done
Your Samsung signage display now stays on HDMI 1, leaves power decisions to your schedule, and stays reachable over the local network so it can be switched back on if it's ever left off. Next, add it to a Display in the dashboard and set up your preferred player device.
